Cabbage belongs to cruciferous family; it is formed by thick leaves, superimposed on each other, forming a ball that can be smooth or curly: depending on the variety, even the color of the leaves changes. The internal leaves of the cabbage are lighter than the external ones as they are not exposed to light, their size alters from 10 to 20 cm in diameter and their weight from 1 to 3 kg. Leaves, broad and embryonic, wind up to form a very hard and compact spherical (or even conical or oval) head of various sizes. Herbaceous crop 40-50 cm high. Biennial cycle, it has a tap root, shallow and erect stem that usually does not exceed 30 cm. Cabbage blooms in the spring of the second year of cultivation, after a period of low temperatures.
